The Purpose of the Josiah Group

Besides being a place for friends to keep in touch I hope this to a place to place articles on topics that seek to evaluate religious events both past and present in light of the Word of God.  In the wake of several high profile conversions from evangelicalism to other denominations within Christendom, I felt the need to do as Josiah did and bring back the Word of God to the forefront of society.  This group will begin by examining who Josiah was, what times he lived in, and what he did that changed the face of Israelite society in the time of the kings.  We will see that that a revolution among God's people was not wrought through a return to "tradition" or philosophy or learning, but back to a literal reading of the Word of God.

Man has wanted to sit in judgment of God's Word since the Garden of Eden.  Eve was the first to do it.  She attempted to make an authoritative judgment on whether something God called good was good or not.  The result was disaster.  Judah nearly lost her faith completely by abandoning the Word of the Lord and turning to the pagan nations of the times and the "traditions of the fathers."  Had it not been for Josiah (who would influence the prophet Daniel) the Babylonian invasion may have been truly fatal.  Had he not brought back God's Word for that generation and God's Word alone as authority Nebuchadnezzar may have finished off the Biblical faith once and for all.  It was Josiah's actions that prepared the generation of the captivity to be faithful to God and stirred the move that brought back thousands of Jews to rebuild the Temple under Nehemiah.  Remember it was because of religious tradition and pagan Greek philosophical influences that caused the Pharisees to miss their Messiah.  Had they stuck with God's Word alone and not man-made ideas read into the text, they may have believed on the Lord Jesus Christ and been wonderfully saved.

Thus is the purpose of this site.  Bringing the light of God's Word to bear on religious, historical, and even prophetic issues of the day.  I pray you enjoy this site and be edified by its content.  Certain articles will be open for discussion while others will not.  The decision will be made between the two based upon whether comments are desired at the time or whether just a plain statement to be made is all that is wished.  May this site be to the Glory of God and to the increase of faith in His inerrant, inspired Word.
